Taiwan leader Ma Ying-Jeou witnesses launch of direct shipping service to Chinese mainland

TAIPEI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan leader Ma Ying-Jeou started a speech at a ceremony in Kaosiung Port at 10:00 a.m. (2:00 GMT), kicking off the direct shipping service from Taiwan to the Chinese mainland.

A container ship of Taiwan-based shipping giant Evergreen later will set off from Kaosiung Port to Tianjin Port of the Chinese mainland.
