Cross-Straits Forum gets underway in Shanghai

Saturday saw the opening in Shanghai of the Cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum. Top political adviser, Jia Qinglin Kuomintang Chairman, Wu Poh-hsiung and honorary KMT Chairman, Lien Chan addressed the opening session.

The 4th Cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum has opened in Shanghai.

Academics and business leaders from the Mainland and Taiwan are discussing how best to work together in light of the global economic downturn.

This year's cross-Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum opened in an upbeat mood. Hopes are high that through closer cooperation, the Mainland and Taiwan can minimize the impact of the global economic turmoil. The main themes are how to expand financial and service industry cooperation, and to facilitate investment and trade.
