Earthquakes jolt Guizhou, Yunnan

An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale jolted southwest China's Guizhou Province on Friday night.
No casualties have been reported. The quake occurred in Luodian County, about 160 kilometers from the provincial capital of Guiyang.

Earlier on Friday, 19 people were injured and thousands were affected by two earthquakes that took place in the neighboring Yunnan Province. A 4.9 magnitude quake hit Ruili city on the China-Myanmar border.
It destroyed the municipal government's old office building and damaged 32 schools. Ninety-nine houses collapsed and 35 thousand were damaged.
Officials have allocated 300 thousand yuan of quake-relief funds and are distributing relief supplies.
Another quake, measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale, jolted Yiliang County near the provincial capital of Kunming. More than 100 houses suffered damages, but no casualties have been reported.
