Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says his government will send food and medical aid to the Gaza Strip.

Addressing a large crowd of supporters on Monday, Chavez called Israel's incursion in Gaza a "real massacre" and said Israel is acting as a "murderous arm" of the United States.

Chavez said Venezuela is in contact with Middle Eastern governments and humanitarian organizations to help provide food and medical aid.

He called on the international community to oppose the offensive in Gaza blasting Israel as a "genocidal government".
