Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Jiang Yu said, "We call for Israel and Hamas to abide by the UN Security Council resolution 1860. It is imperative that they cease all military actions immediately and alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. We will also support Egypt and other efforts to help resolve the crisis. "

Meanwhile, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, China's permanent representative Zhang Yesui, says Chinese envoy Sun Bigan is on a mission to the Middle East for peace mediation efforts. He says China is ready to work with the international community to bring all the parties concerned back to the negotiation table, in a bid to achieve durable peace. Zhang says the top priority is to achieve the full implementation of the UN ceasefire resolution.
