Clark Randt is due to leave his current position as US ambassador to the People's Republic of China on Tuesday.

He made his farewell speech in Beijing. He said that significantly improving relations with China was an important legacy left by the Bush administration. He said he was glad that he made a contribution to US-China relations during his tenure. Randt arrived as ambassador in Beijing on July the 23rd, 2001. He is America's longest-serving ambassador to China.
