DPRK reports on Obama taking office as U.S. president

PYONGYANG, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The official KCNA news agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Wednesday broadcast a report about Barack Obama taking office as the 44th president of the United States.

The three-sentence news report was sent hours after the inauguration. It said that Obama took office as the 44th U.S. president on Tuesday and made an inaugural address on Capitol Hill, without reporting on the content of the speech.

Pyongyang and Washington have no diplomatic ties.
