Beijing transport authorities estimate that 300,000 people will arrive in Beijing by train on Saturday.
The number of in-bound train passengers reached its peak on Friday. The station will add 40 temporary passenger trains on Saturday.
Major railway stations around China are all facing similar pressure. Extra trains have been scheduled nationwide to ease the post-holiday peak.
Road traffic will also hit a peak. On Friday alone, over 700,000 buses carried over 40 million passenger trips, an increase of 6 percent on 2008.
The peak is expected to last a week. After the Chinese Lantern Festival on February 9, the flow of traveling migrant workers and university students will decrease.
