Heavy fog forced flights and expressways to close in east and central China on Saturday, delaying the return of thousands of people at the end of the week-long Spring Festival break.

Forecasters say fog and haze will continue to blanket parts of Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Chongqing. The fog reduced visibility to less than 200 meters in some regions. Inter-province expressways in Shandong were closed.
All 118 outbound flights from Qingdao International Airport and 98 outbound flights from Jinan International Airport were delayed. In Jiangxi province, fog caused a crash involving 19 vehicles on Friday night.
