Taliban ceasefire in pakistan´s swat valley

Members of the Taliban in Pakistan's insurgency-hit Swat valley have announced a 10-day ceasefire.

A spokesman for the group said Sunday's move aims to facilitate ongoing peace talks between the government in the North West Frontier Province and an Islamic group linked to the Swat Taliban.

But the spokesman also added that the Taliban would fire in self-defense, if security forces did not stop fighting.

Swat, a former tourist haven, has been controlled by Islamic militant groups since 2007.
