During the Jakarta stop of her Asian tour, Clinton praised Indonesia for showing that Islam, democracy and modernity can co-exist and also thrive together.

President Susilo stressed the necessity of maintaining sustainable trade relations between Indonesia and the US.

He also emphasized the importance of a process of dialogues to put an end to the Middle East conflict.

Appearing on a popular youth show, Clinton confirmed she would attend a conference on rebuilding Gaza next month.

Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, said, "I am working hard to support the Palestinian authorities so that they can help their people. And we're going to work very hard to try to resolve what has been such a painful, difficult conflict for so many years and to move toward a two-state solution."

Clinton's visit to the world's most populous Muslim country highlights US President Barack Obama's desire to forge better ties with the Muslim world.

Clinton is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on Friday for her first official visit to China as Secretary of State.
