The "New Star" sank in waters near Russia's far eastern port of Vladivostok on Sunday. Ten Chinese and six Indonesian crew were on board the Sierra Leone-flagged vessel.

Eight crew members were rescued, including three Chinese. Li Hui said the Chinese government is deeply concerned over media reports that the ship sank after a Russian Coast Guard cruiser fired at it.

Li asked Russia to spare no efforts to search for the seven missing Chinese crew and thoroughly investigate the cause of the incident. Razov has expressed regret over the loss of the ship's crew.
