Fatah & Hamas hold reconciliation meetings

Palestinian rival groups Fatah and Hamas have held a series of meetings ahead of wider reconciliation talks. The meetings are aimed at repairing the gaping rift between the two groups.

Wednesday's preliminary discussions were mediated by Egypt. They focused on releasing detainees and ending the negative media campaigns each side is waging against the other.
The top aide to Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, says Hamas and Fatah have reached agreement on both issues.
Wednesday's progress is also seen as a good sign to some 80 donor countries planning to give aid to rebuild Gaza.
