Palestinian factions to work for unity

The Palestinian factions attending an inter-Palestinian national unity dialogue in the Egyptian capital of Cairo have agreed to work for reconciliation among Palestinians.

Under the sponsorship of Egypt, the inter-Palestinian dialogue was attended by all Palestinian factions. Among them were representatives of the rival Fatah and Hamas movements.

The Palestinian groups agreed to set up five committees to work on issues related to the reconciliation process among Palestinians.

Thursday's talks came a day after the two main groups agreed on confidence-building measures to halt hostile media campaigns and stop political arrests.

Both sides also agreed to release a number of detainees held by the two movements.
