Ethnic Han, Tibetans celebrate new year together

It's the beginning of a New Year in Tibet. But Tibetans are not the only ones to celebrate. Different ethnic groups in the region are joining the New Year celebrations and adding to the festive atmosphere.

A Lhasa resident, Yan Fan, said, "We haven't seen each other  since they moved to this new place. I miss them very much.  The New Year is a good time for friends like us to visit  each other. It's just like what we do in the inland areas."

Yan Fan got up earlier than usual on Sunday. An ethnic Han, she has lived in Lhasa for three years. She and her friends have promised to pay a New Year call to their best Tibetan friend. Although it is not the first time Yan Fan has spent the Tibetan New Year holiday with a Tibetan family, she still couldn't hide her excitement.
