Songs and dances in colorful ethnic costumes at this theatre in Shigatse attracted a packed house almost every day. The audience are from both home and abroad, all interested in the unique Tibetan performing arts.
Theatre manager Jebu said, "Now I own two theatres. In average, there are three to four hundred visitors each day."
This Tibetan folk dance is called "Duixie". The dancers' bodies move along with the lively melodies, displaying the Tibetan people's optimistic spirit and happy life. At this theatre, all the performers are local farmers. Theatre manager Jebu says an increasing number of farmer artists have emerged, bringing onto the stage more and more attractive shows. To meet the need of his booming business, Jebu has expanded and rebuilt his two theaters and he's planning to open a third one in Lahsa this year.
