90 of the 2,008 drums used at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games were auctioned on-line on Monday. The bids totaled more than 12.8 million yuan, or almost 1.9 million U.S. dollars.

The China Beijing Equity Exchange ran the auction through its website, attracting more than 10-thousand bidders. The most expensive of the 90 pieces was sold for 288-thousand yuan. CBEX auctioned the first one-thousand drums, also known as "fou", for more than 52 million yuan earlier this month. The last group of "fou" will go to auction on Wednesday.
