Iran has cautiously welcomed U.S. President Barak Obama's new video message to the country. The two countries have been at odds for some time as the U.S. accuses Iran of seeking to build nuclear weapons and supporting terrorism, charges Tehran has denied.

U.S. President Barack Obama's video message on improving the strained ties with Iran is seen by many as an olive branch to the Iranian government.

But, in televised addresses to celebrate the Iranian New Year, Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made no reference to Obama's video message.

However, Ahmadinejad's press adviser said that minor changes would not end the differences between the two sides - only concrete steps to change U.S. foreign policy towards Iran.
