Tokyo: DPRK launch "Extremely provocative"

Sunday's rocket launch by the DPRK has been widely seen as a defiance of the US, South Korea and Japan. The three nations believe the move was cover for a test of Pyongyan's long-range missile technology.

Taro Aso, Japanese PM, said, "They conducted the launch despite our repeated warnings. We see this as an extremely provocative action towards us, and Japan cannot tolerate this at all. Therefore, we will continue to deal with the matter in cooperation with the international community, as this is a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolution."
