Somali pirates seize US-flagged ship

A US Navy spokesman says Somali pirates have hijacked a US-flagged cargo ship with 21 American crew members on board. The spokesman says the attack happened off the eastern coast of Somalia early Wednesday.

He said the ship was operated by the Danish company Maersk, which deals with the US Department of Defense. The vessel is the sixth to be seized within a week.
