DPRK celebrates re-election of Kim Jong Il

The DPRK's military has held a rally in Pyongyang, to celebrate the re-election of Kim Jong Il as the nation's leader.

This came after the Supreme People's Assembly reelected Kim chairman of the National Defense Commission, or NDC, on Thursday, ushering in his third term as the country's leader.

At the rally, minister of the People's Armed Forces of the NDC, Kim Yong-Chun, said all the servicemen sincerely celebrate Kim Jong Il on his re-election. The leader appeared on Thursday at the first session of the new parliament. The session marked the first state event Kim Jong Il has attended in months. He also made a key promotion, appointing his brother-in-law, Jang Song Thaek, to the NDC.
