NATO forces have rescued 20 fishermen from a pirate attack in the Gulf of Aden.

The pirates attacked a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, firing rockets from a small skiff.

A Dutch frigate from the NATO forces responded to the tanker's distress calls.

It quickly tracked the pirates to a Yemeni-flagged fishing dhow seized on Thursday. The bandits were using the Yemeni vessel as a mother ship. The pirates climbed into the dhow, followed by marine commandos.

The 20 fishermen were set free and the Somalian hijackers released, as the NATO forces had no authority to arrest them.
