China is keeping a close eye on the rising number of cases of swine flu around the world. At a State Council meeting chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao on Tuesday, discussions focused on how to keep the virus from entering China.

The meeting has asked the Health Ministry, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine as well as the Ministry of Agriculture to form a united front to monitor and report on suspected cases.

As of Tuesday morning, no cases of swine flu had been reported in China, and a similar virus has not been found in pigs in the country.

Participants at the meeting said the country will remain on high alert, closely monitor the epidemic situation and safeguard public health and safety.

A series of measures to prevent an outbreak of the disease have been released.

Relevant government departments must follow the latest developments of the disease, and increase cooperation with other countries.
