Hong Kong officials say the first confirmed case of influenza A/H1N1 there involves a Mexican tourist.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang said, "Hong Kong has got its first case of the influenza A/H1N1, a person flew from Mexico to Hong Kong via Shanghai on a China Eastern Airlines flight."

The patient has been isolated at a hospital and is in a stable condition.

Health workers have quarantined about three hundred people at the hotel where the man stayed. And, they are searching for those he may have contacted.

Officials have also begun tracking down people whom the patient contacted on his journey to Hong Kong.

France has also confirmed its first two cases of influenza AH1N1.

They're a 49-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman.

Both recently returned from Mexico.

In Israel, a 25-year-old man has recovered from the flu virus after spending a week in hospital.

Tomer Vagim was one of Israel's two confirmed cases.

Vagim says he travelled to Mexico in mid-April.
