China stepping up measures to prevent and control A/H1N1 flu virus

China has suspended pig and pork imports from the Canadian province Alberta. The decision follows the discovery of the A/H1N1 flu virus in some of the province's pigs.

Meanwhile, various Ministries in China are stepping up measures to prevent and control the disease.
The suspension of pork imports from Alberta is China's latest measure to keep out the A/H1N1 flu.
Pigs and pork products sent to China after this announcement will be destroyed. Those that have already arrived must be tested for the A/H1N1 virus.
No pork products are be allowed to enter the country in the mail or be carried in by individuals.
The discovery in Canada is a warning that the new virus can be contracted by pigs as well as humans.
