Asia has not seen a large number of confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 virus, compared to other regions.

After the damage wrought by SARS and bird flu in recent years, Asian countries are more cautious.

The meeting in Thailand aimed to find further measures to prevent the an outbreak of A/H1N1 flu in the region.

Francisco Duque III, Philippine Health Secretary, said, "The objective of this meeting is precisely to share with each other what this preparedness and action plans are and what are the gaps and hope to achieve the gaps by learning from each other."
