US: Door to dialogue with DPRK still open

The US has urged the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to engage in dialogue with Washington and says there will be "consequences" if the DPRK pushes ahead with its nuclear programs.

Top US envoy to the DPRK Stephen Bosworth arrived in Seoul from Beijing on Friday.

Just hours earlier, DPRK state television carried a Foreign Ministry statement saying "nothing would be expected from the US, which remains hostile towards its dialogue partner". Bosworth denied that Washington's policy was hostile.

Stephen Bosworth, US Envoy to the DPRK, said, "The door to dialogue remains open, that we are committed to resolving the problems that we face through negotiation and dialogue. So I don't think that we can be interpreted as having a hostile policy."
