Special Report: One Year after 5.12 Quake
Zhang Xiaoyan's newborn cries at a prefab hospital in Qingchuan, southwest China's Sichuan Province on Sunday, May 10, 2009. New lives never stop their steps to be born in the quake-devastated areas. So far more than 300 newborns have been born at the prefab hospital and these newborns, for those families in the quake-hit areas, are their "sunshine", igniting their hope to start a new life. Pregnant mothers, among whom are mothers who lost their children in the devastated Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12, 2008, are often seen nowadays in the prefabs and newly-built houses. When there are offspring, there is hope and future. The moment of new birth is endowed with significance as the one-year anniversary of the Wenchuan Earthquake approaches.
