Eight missing from fishing boat after crash with ship in E Chin

HANGZHOU, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were missing after their fishing boat collided with a ship and sank near the Yangtze River estuary in Shanghai early Monday, maritime authorities confirmed.

All 11 people on board the fishing boat, coded 04637 from the eastern Zhejiang Province, fell into the water after it capsized and sank at about 3:40 a.m., the provincial maritime bureau said.

As of 10 a.m., three people had been rescued and the search for the missing continued, it said.

Maritime authorities were pursuing the other vessel, which fled after the accident.
