The first plenum of the 11th CPPCC was closed this morning in Beijing with a declaration on unity and democracy.
Mr. Jia Qinglin, the top political advisor, says that China’s socialist democracy is characterized with multi-party cooperation that involves non-communist parties and those without party affiliation.
He encourages members of the top political advisory body to voice their opinions and give comments on the economic and social development and to promote ethnic unity as well as social harmony.
Members of the CPPCC include those from HK and Macao, the two special administrative regions, and Taiwan, a renegade province of the mainland.
