Chief Commander for Chang'e Program, Luan Enjie
The control system of Chang’e-1 satellite will conduct the output judgment for various sensors, driving movable components, determination and automatic adjustment of the satellite attitude, orientation of lunar satellite, and the multi-body tracking and control towards the Moon, Earth, stars and the sun.
In order to ensure the normal in-orbit operation of the satellite, the onboard devices include the gyroscope, accelerometer, sun sensor, Moon UV sensor, star sensor, momentum wheel control and unloading, panel driving mechanism and thruster control, etc.. The Moon UV sensor has been tackled in the engineering development and reached the required technical specifications.
The onboard guidance, navigation and control (GNC) has self diagnosis and certain fault treatment functions.
The onboard computer adopts redundant design to ensure its reliable operation, and the Chang’e-1 satellite data management system has been modified adaptively based on the experiences of the previous satellites. For example, different ways with convolution code and without convolution code adopted for telemetry code rate; autonomous control of the multiple-heater system; energy management and distribution for the whole satellite, and emergency handling function under faults.
Thermal control is a problem of great importance for Chang’e-1. We have adopted almost every means that can be used, mainly including coating, heat pipe, cushion, sheet and louver, etc..
