Zukerman is to perform in the Poly Theater later this month with his wife playing repertoires of Beijing Opera.
Last year, violinist Pinchas Zukerman had planned to hold a concert on May 22 in Beijing, but in the aftermath of the Wenchuan earthquake, it was postponed. After one year, Zukerman will finally visit Beijing and perform as a soloist on May 29 at the Poly Theater. In this delayed concert, Zukerman will perform classical music such as Ludwig van Beethoven´s Spring Sonata and Franz Schubert´s Trios, the masterpieces he has perfected. His wife, Amanda Forsyth will perform a violoncello sonata "Defeating the Tiger on the Mountain,” which is adapted from the music of Beijing Opera’s "Circumvent the Wei Hu Mountain.”
As the youngest of the top 10 violinists in the world today, Zukerman has won the Grammy Awards twice. During his tour of China, Zukerman will perform in many places including Beijing, Shanghai and Shenyang. He also has a great desire to visit Sichuan Province to witness the post-quake reconstruction conditions. The concert sponsor will arrange a visit for him after his tour. As for the concert in Beijing, Zukerman said, “I sincerely hope the regret from last year can be left behind, and let music stay in the hearts of the audience in Beijing.”
