The problem of going to toilet while driving has bothered many taxi drivers. On May 15, in the exhibition area of modified vehicles in “Auto Beijing 2009”, a “magic seat” vehicle exhibited by Chang Lianying, a man from Henan Province, attracted a lot of visitors. In the vehicle, the co-driver's seat has been converted into a close-stool, which could be controlled by buttons.

Chang said that he used to hear of the complaints from the taxi drivers that it is so inconvenient to go to toilet while driving and they may get nephropathy if they were in such a situation for a long time. So, Chang got the idea of inventing a close-stool mounted in a vehicle. He then observed a lot of toilets, and collected a large amount of related information from home and abroad. Finally a close-stool for children in a farm product market inspired him. The idea is to combine the close-stool device and a vehicle seat into one. There is a movable cover on the surface of the co-driver’s seat in the car, and when the cover opens, the basin hidden in the seat will appear. After using it, the system will flush, purify and drain automatically.

Chang said that at present, in countries such as Germany, Japan and Britain, vehicle-mounted close-stools have already emerged. The difference between his invention and foreign inventions is that as a standard configuration of the vehicle, the close-stool he designed does not occupy extra space, and the purification system embedded in the close-stool is good for environment protection.

In accordance with different vehicle types, Chang expects that installing the system will cost between 800 yuan and 2,000 yuan. Although the system has not been introduced to the market, Chang made a joke saying that “the age of vehicle-mounted close-stool has come, and it will never happen again in the future that people die because they cannot pee, as it goes in an old Chinese saying.”
