Beijing Capital International Airport to launch free Internet access on June 30

Starting from June 30 the three major terminals of Beijing Capital International Airport will launch a wireless Internet access service, passengers will be able to spend the waiting time at the terminals surfing the Internet with their own notebooks.

On the morning of June 24, Hao Ling, a manager at the quality and security department of Beijing Capital International Airport Company, said that prior to this, a wireless network had already covered the airport, but passengers needed to pay fees to use it. In order to offer a better waiting environment for passengers, Terminal 3 became the first terminal of this airport to offer free Internet access on June 16. Passengers can enjoy the service when they enter this terminal. She said that this service would be extended to all the three terminals starting from June 24.

The latest statistics issued by the Airports Council International (ACI) show that the passenger throughput at Beijing Capital International Airport reached 15.15 million in the first quarter of 2009, ranking it second in the world. It is second only to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport of the US. The customer satisfaction index in the first quarter was 4.37, an increase of 1.6 percent from 4.30 in the fourth quarter of 2008.
