Inner Mongolia is located in the middle latitude area, and has spacious plateaus. It boasts a complex and diverse climate with temperate continental and seasonal climates as the main features. The temperature difference is large, and there is more than 2,700 hours of sunshine every year. The total annual precipitation is between 100 mm to 500 mm, and the region is frost-free for between 80 to 150 days. Within the territory of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, climates vary obviously from east to west, and north to south. The Greater Hinggan Mountain and Yinshan Mountain are the two most important climate boundaries. The temperature and precipitation of regions to the east of the Greater Hinggan Mountain and to the north of Yinshan Mountain are obviously lower than those to the west of the Greater Hinggan Mountain and to the south of Yinshan Mountain.
