Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, is starting a positive cycle of extremely rapid economic growth.

According to the statistics releasedby authorities for 48 key prefecture-level cities in 12 provinces and autonomous regions in western China in the first three quarters of 2005, Ordos City performed better than other prefecture-level cities in western China in terms of the growth of gross regional product, the increases of secondary and tertiary industries, fiscal revenues, fixed asset investment, the net incomeof urban resident and farmer and herder per capita.

Since 2005, the Party committee and government of Ordos have implemented a scientific approach to development and an interactive strategy by laying down a solid foundation for future development. The city's economy experienced a high-base high-speed growth in 2004, followed byfurther strong growth this year. As of the end of November 2005, the city's fiscal revenue more than doubled and reached 8.40907 billion yuan, an increase of 119.4% on a year-on-year basis. The city now ranks the No. 2 in Inner Mongolia.
