Dongba North Area in Chaoyang District to feature 3 major functions

Dongba North Area, which is located in the northeastern section of Chaoyang District, and covers an area of 6.2 square kilometers, will become an "integrated, urban functional development area," featuring high-end commercial and recreational functions, business headquarters, and an international communication service. Within the next few days, this area will solicit a design plan from worldwide.

Covering an area of 6.2 square kilometers, this area has a convenient geographic location

According to a relevant official from Chaoyang District, 6.2 square kilometers in Dongba North Area will be incorporated into the planning, including north to Dongba Road and North Mafang Middle Street, south to the Bahe River, east to the second airport access and west to the 5th Ring Road. This area enjoys a convenient environment and is eight kilometers away from Capital Airport, adjacent to the Wenyu River Ecological Corridor in the north, the Jiuxianqiao marginal group in the west, the Jinzhan financial background service area in the east and the Dongba South area in the south.

Three primary functions will promote the quality of regional development

Reporters learned that this area will focus on establishing a world-class city to match Beijing's diversified, international and high-end consumption needs. It will become a commercial and recreational center, characterizing the modernized city and integrating large-scale shopping centers, recreational activity centers and business hotels, and a unique shopping area, gathering world-class brand name products and various hotels; it will rely on a fourth embassy district to develop international cultural exchange and living service industries, creating a characteristic international convention center and China and the world cultural exchange center. A focus will be imposed on developing airline company headquarters and service agencies, domestic and international companies' headquarters and unique businesses, which are dependent to the transportation network linking international and domestic cities, as well as the offices and international organizations that are closely related with international communication and foreign affairs.

Soliciting a design plan worldwide

Reporters also learned that between the middle of March and April 1, planning and design agencies from home and abroad which meet the qualification requirements, as well as real estate development units or joint planning organizations, which are led by the planning and design agencies and have real estate development and planning experience, are all allowed to submit proposals.

There are two main design tasks in the solicited plans: one is about the land usage structure, industry development and research and the land development strategy while the other is about the land usage planning, traffic, urban facilities, landscape ecological and urban design planning. Work on the design plan assessments will begin at the beginning of July.
