Daxing subway to begin operation in October

The traffic jams on Jingkai Highway are expected to improve. Yesterday, when making a guest appearance on the city service management broadcasting "public-chief leader dialogue" program, Li Changyou, director of Daxing District, revealed the connection between Daxing District and the central urban area will be achieved by building four roads to improve traffic capacity. Daxing Line subway will be opened on October 28, fourteen months earlier than the initial planned launch date.

Four new roads to be built from Daxing District into the central urban area

Li said that the reason for the Jingkai Highway congestion is mainly that there are few roads connecting Daxing with the city center. To change the situation, on the one hand, Daxing District has rebuilt Jingkai Highway side roads, changing the original one-way lane into two-way lane. On the other hand, Daxing will accelerate the construction of Guogongzhuang Road, Puhuangyu Road, Wanshou South Extension Road and Maxi South Extension Road. It is reported that Guogongzhuang Road will connect directly to the Fourth Ring Road when completed, Wanshou South Extension Road and Maxi South Extension Road will be finished and connected to the city center two years later. Currently, demolition and land acquisitions for the Puhuangyu Road have been completed, and it is expected to be opened to traffic in early 2011.

The Daxing subway line will be opened on October 28, which is one year and two months earlier than the initial planned launch date. After the opening, people can transfer from the Daxing line to line 4, and people can take the Daxing line directly to Xidan and the Summer Palace.

Beijing Tongren Hospital's Yizhuang branch will be expanded in the second half of 2010

Currently, there is only one tertiary medical branch of Tongren Hospital in Yizhuang, and it is very inconvenient for the residents. The Tongren Hospital Branch will develop its “Phase Two” expansion in 2010. "Land has been reserved and the plan has been done, currently there is only a lack of making investment. However, the project is expected to initiate in the second half of 2010."

According to the plan, Daxing District will build two or three community health stations this year. In the future, residents who suffer from minor illnesses, fever and other minor ailments, can go to the community health stations, while those who are suffering from a serious illness can go to Tongren Hospital Branch, so that their medical issues can be taken care of.

New kindergarten in Yizhuang will be opened in September, 2010

In regards to issues such as the difficulty children have going to kindergarten or entering school, Li said that it would implement a number of measures, including encouraging existing kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools to accept as many students as possible. Meanwhile, efforts should be put towards establishing new nurseries, and introducing a number of superior quality urban school resources to building divisions in Yizhuang. It is reported that Daxing District has decided to establish Yizhuang Second Center Kindergarten, which will accept more than 100 children, and is due to be opened September 1, 2010.

The largest Wetland Park will open free of charge on National Day

To strengthen its ecological conservation, Daxing District will build the Sanhaizi Park and the ten thousand mu Riverfront Forest Park in 2010. Sanhaizi Park is one of the entire city's planned country parks, as well its largest wetland park. Since the end of last year, construction on it has been stepped up. With a planned area of 11 square kilometers, construction of the park will be completed in four phases. At present, the first phase greening project is nearing completion, and it will be open to the public free of charge on National Day this year. The Riverfront Park, with the Nian Tan Reservoir at its core, has a total area of nearly ten thousand mu and is expected to open in 2011. 　

Relocation of 18 villages to make space for Yizhuang

Li said that beginning this year, Daxing District and Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone will begin to develop and integrate the area's administrative resources. In the future, Daxing District will take Yizhuang as its leading development area in order to achieve a one zone, three parks and multipoint development pattern, focusing on the development of the electronic information, automobile manufacturing, machinery equipment, bio-medical, and cultural and creative industries. Daxing District plans to relocate 18 villages by the end of October, 2010 freeing up an additional 12 square kilometers for the development of Yizhuang. These villages will be included in the overall urbanization project, and the village farmers will transform into urban residents.

Daxing District will accommodate over 20,000 residents from Xuanwu District in 2011

As a destination for the Xuanwu District Population redistribution, Daxing District will arrange relocation housing sites in areas such as the core area of Daxing New District and Yizhuang. Some of the sites are close to the highway, and some are close to the subway. After the relocation housing is built next year, Daxing District will welcome over 20,000 residents from Xuanwu District.
