Torch bearers from Longyan city made the donations after their relay ended in the city. They said they wanted to show their support for victims in the earthquake-stricken areas.
Meanwhile, representatives from some 48 companies that are sponsoring the Beijing Olympics have also donated their relief funds to the earthquake-hit areas in Sichuan Province. They made their contributions during the Olympic Sponsor conference.
The State General Administration of Sport has also donated 5 million yuan to areas devastated by the earthquake on behalf of athletes and officials.
