As for me, donating some money is maybe the only thing that I can do to help them. Anyway, life goes on. Cherish every sunset, be nice to people around you, be a good parent and a good child. God bless all of us.

Unfortunately, I was in chengdu when the earthquake came. Or maybe it was fortunate for me to bear testimony to that biggest quake in a century. I was a junior of Sichuan International Studies University and I just finished my CATTI test the day before 5.12 and wanted to relax myself. However, the Wenchuan earthquake destroyed everything. It was horrible. Many of my teachers and classmates lost their kin and homes, but I was sad to say that I did nothing for them ´cause I was stranded too. I have been studied in chengdu for four years and I consider sichuan as my second hometown. I believe that sichuan will be better because of you and me and because of love.Let´s pray for it.

I live in Southern California, USA which has earthquakes at least 6 or 7 times a year.1. The best way to ward off death due to disasters is knowledge! Everyone should be trained in recognizing and treating head injuries, shock, bleeding, broken legs/arms and CPR. I always have a first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the home. 2. No Building or structure is earth quake proof! Regardless of what the architects say. Therefore, live and work in low structure buildings when possible. We are trained that the door (Jam) the area right above a door, is strong enough to withstand a collapsing roof or above story (floor). Stay away from glass windows and do not run outside due to falling debris. 3. Always make sure you have 2 weeks worth of drinking water on hand. 4. All turn-off valves for gas lines should be labeled and known to everyone. Fire is a major problem with earthquakes. 5. Extra cell phone and radio batteries need to be always charged and available. 6. Stay calm and do not panic!
