I think it is Ok. What matters is that those who need help get assistance. Who can tell the purpose of these donators is for fame. At least, they are doing right things and helping others.

There is nothing wrong at it! These people are doing something positively right. Not like others criticizing and not doing much besides it. Let say that I am well known and appreciated it in my tall building for helping people with their heavy bags, I open doors to women, kids, and others, and I wait for you when you are rushing to the elevator. People are smiling at me, say nice words to me, offer me moon-cakes... and send me positive sought and vibrations. If citizens living in my building have to elect a representative, there is a good chance that I will be elected. Am I doing anything wrong?

Using charity to gain fame is immoral. Whole-hearted wish to do charity resulting in recognition and publicity is something inevitable. In the case of Chen, standing behind a wall of bank notes and having his photograph taken verged on self-publicity. It would have been better if his charitable action was discovered and reported with personal inverview. Reading his past donations and efforts in the Sichuan earthquake, where there is not much publicity, that is a commendable act and for that I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is indeed sincere about his charity work. The late Mr Lee Kong Chian of Singapore was always the first to donate in any crisis or disaster but he has never consciously sought publicity. People somehow would find out. The descendants of the late Mr Tan Tock Seng are still continuing with the family´s tradition of philanthropy without any fan fare. Mr Chen should learn to be more discreet.

At least there are people willing to donate. That´s a great thing.China deperately needs the spirit of charity not just for helping needy. The way of giving out and an overall charity system may need improvement, but what is more important is let people understand: To give is what keeps our planet a happy and worthwhile place to live on.

We are not complied but advocated to do charity. So if someone has done charity to the society, why don´t we let him do it in the way he wants? What´ more ,his way is legal and maral. And I think it is a win-win to both the society and the contributor !! For one thing, the needy people get the necessary money to live , for another , the contributor get the resonable fame he wants!!
