BEIJING, July 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Eight Chinese Australians unanimously said on the press conference in Australia on July 24 that they were deeply impressed by the great changes in Tibet and the local people's peaceful and happy life during their travel in Tibet.
Invited by the Chinese Foreign Exchange Association, Seven Chinese Australian State Councilors as well as an officer from New South Wales State, Australia, paid a friendly visit to China's Shanghai, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, Lhasa, capital of TAR, Xigaze, in southwestern Tibet, and Beijing from June 22 to July 2.
"During my travel in Lhasa, I saw the modern and beautiful Tibetan people's houses with five star national flags flying in the breeze," said Henson Liang, deputy mayor of Burwood City, New South Wales State. He hoped that the two countries could exchange more ideas on promoting Tibet culture in Australia.
Li Jingrong, senior police officer of Sydney Central Police Station, said that he saw a harmonious society in Tibet, and the local people were friendly to foreigners. He also said that 77 percent policemen were Tibetans who were well equipped and dutiful, so traveling in Tibet will be safe.
Talking about the visit to Sichuan, which was stricken by a 7.9-magnititude earthquake last May, councilor Liu Naxin said that post-quake reconstruction was long-term work. She appealed for Chinese Australians to continue to pay attention to the reconstruction in Sichuan and help the locals rebuild their homes.
