BEIJING, Aug. 3 -- A colorful Ongkor (Bumper Harvest) Festival was held in the riverine areas of Shannan Prefecture, Tibet, to usher in good harvests as they arrive in June according to the Tibetan calendar.

The celebrations indicate that counties along the Yarlung Zangbo River have entered the year's high reaping season.
Dhawa Droma, a resident of Nyedon County, said despite the frost hazard, the farmers' ingathering hasn't suffer a lot from the natural disasters. That is because the government has taken effective and prompt measures to reduce the damage.
At the same time, farmers and herdsmen all work hard to gather in their crops. As the growth of winter barley was influenced badly by weather conditions, grass-cover was planted in time, and winter wheat is now in good growth. Therefore, the general harvest is guaranteed and loss in winter barley caused by disasters will be made up.
