Tibetan deputies to this year's National People's Congress say the past eight years have seen profound achievements in the region. They are expressing confidence in promoting Tibet's economy and fostering better living standards.
It's the second NPC session since the March 14th riot in Tibet. Deputies say the region has recovered and is growing strong.
The past eight years have been important to Tibet's development.
Earlier this year, the Central government outlined the development goals for Tibet. It says by 2020, the per capita net income of farmers and herdsmen should be close to the national level. And so should public services and infrastructure.
More investment is earmarked for education, medical services, and environmental protection.
Improving the quality of people's lives is now a priority.
