In addition, 60 other works including "Balance Dance with Bowls Stacked on the Head" and "That Snowfall", either won titles of Excellent Choreography or honored their performers with Silver and Bronze prizes.
A total of 436 works competed in the first round of the contest, doubling the entries in the first contest, and 66 of them got through to the finals. The dancers came from 31 provinces, autonomous regions or cities directly under the Central Government and the Special Administrative Region of Macau. CCTV aired the 7-day long finals on its third channel. The contest drew wide attention from viewers, receiving 60 thousand calls on the hotlines and 400 thousand visits on the CCTV website during the finals.
According to Mr. Feng Shuangbai, judge of Comprehensive Quality test and Director of the Dance Institute of the China Art Academy, the contest topped all other such kind of events in size, quality, and influence. The dance works ranked at world levels and the design of the competition was more rational than in the past. The contest should play an important role in dance development and popularization in China.
