A riot of color has invaded markets and exhibitions in Guangzhou, Wuhan and Sanya as spring flowers bloom in the balmy weather.

Hundreds of thousands of tulips are on display at the Guangzhou International Tulip Exhibition. 28 rare varieties of tulips, coming from as far as Holland, are on show. Most of these flowers are being seen in China for the first time.

It has become a custom in Guangzhou to take flowers home for the Spring Festival. Tens of thousands of local residents have been flocking to the city's flower markets each day during the holiday. Apart from traditional blooms, exotic flowers from Holland and Africa are especially popular with market-goers this holiday season.

Central China's Wuhan city also heralded an early spring as a variety of beautiful flowers brought seasonal joy to the city. Locals enjoyed a sensory overload as blooms turned their town into a kaleidoscope of fragrant color.

As if this sea of flowers were not enough, the city of Sanya on South China's Hainan Island has welcomed a horde of visitors eager to satiate appetites for color with the seabed's splendid corals.

Not far to the north, the mountains of Guangdong province have attracted many visitors as the area's famous plum blossoms come into bloom. An unexpected snowfall added to the beauty of the scene.

Meanwhile, in the north of China, an exhibition of spring blossoms in Tianjin featured more than 300 pots of gorgeous flowers, with forsythia and Japanese quince as the main attractions. Artificial snow added to the fun.

In north China's Jilin province, Mount Changbai presented a breathtaking scene, celebrating the beauty of winter and calling in the spring.
