Britain's business community and Chinese scholars responded positively to Premier Wen Jiabao's work report, which was delivered at the on-going session of National People's Congress. They say the report gives them great confidence about China's development.
Lu Tianjian, professor of Cambridge University, said: "What impressed me most in Premier Wen's report is the priority he put on agriculture, rural areas and rural population. I think that is very important. Premier Wen proposed a 20 percent increase in government expenditure on agriculture in 2004. I think that is an essential step towards realizing over-all modernization of China."
