As China's top legislative body, the National People's Congress, or NPC, heads into its final day of meetings. The presidium members of the second session of the tenth National People's Congress on Saturday discussed the bills submitted by deputies.
Sheng Huaren, the Vice Secretary-General of the third meeting of the presidium, said that altogether nearly 1,800 motions were submitted during this NPC session, a record high since the sixth NPC's 1983 session. Compared with proposals submitted in previous sessions, motions this time cover a wider range of issues and are more deeply concerned with people's basic interests.
At the meeting, participants also discussed the draft amendment to the constitution and unanimously gave it their approval. The presidium decided to present it to Sunday's plenary meeting for a final vote.
