French Culture Year opens in China

A year of French culture has got underway in China, presidents Hu Jintao and Jacques Chirac exchanged congratulatory messages. In his letter, Hu called France a great country with a long history and brilliant civilization, praising the creativity of its people. The Year of France will give Chinese the opportunity chance to learn more about the country... this follows last year's Chinese Culture Year in France, which Chirac remarked was a great success. The President said his people now know more about China and have a great enthusiasm for its culture. Chirac hopes such cultural exchange activities can bring the two countries closer together.
