Spring may well be on its way everywhere else, but in the world's fashion capital, it's already winter again. Designers in Milan are covering the catwalks with somber winter wears as the city's Fashion Week continues its parade.
Gucci has given way to super-slim satin pencil trousers, and skirts were cut straight to the knee with a stretchy slit up the back. One of the biggest changes was the move to a subtler palette of midnight blue, steely grey and bright splashes of teal blue and purple. To add to this iconic look were handbags made of thick crocodile and snake skin. Dolce and Gabanna was not quite so reverent. The D and G girl has invaded her grandmother's wardrobe for a burgundy lace and velvet high-necked dress, and then split it right up the thigh. And she's slipped her regency-style floor-length gown over jeans. D and G's trademark tight jeans were paired with long-cuffed Elizabethan shirts and neat black velvet jackets.
